Real Life Stories

Dec. 16, 2020, 12:20 p.m.

This collection of thought-provoking essays on death, dying, bereavement and legacy serve to remind us that each experience is different, yet we are not alone.

Real Life Stories about death, dying and bereavement began life as part of the huunuu virtual literary festival, held in February 2021.

Words can be helpful, they can help us to understand our part in events that can seem out of our control. Our aim by curating these real-life stories is to bring support to those reading them. We all have messy big emotions that can be hard to navigate. By sharing, we can begin to understand that we are in this thing called life (and death) together.

These stories and more will be curated into a collection later this year, which we hope to share with a wider audience.

Here is a taster of some of the powerful stories we will be sharing.

If you'd like to contribute to our collection, please email: hello@huunuu.com with Real Life Stories in the subject header. We are ideally looking at a piece of 800 words long up to 2000. If you would like some further guidance before submitting, please ask us at the email address above.

If you've been affected by any of the existing stories and would like to access grief support, we can recommend:
